Today I speak with Dr. Dani Espino, a physical therapist, running coach, and accomplished runner herself! Dani shares her experience as a running coach who in a male-dominated field. She talks about her struggles with imposter syndrome and how she moved through those feelings into confidence. Dani believes in the importance of banding together and supporting other women who are also trying to important work in health. Dani has seen the lack of knowledge in coaching that is so prevalent in high school running, especially for females and their developing bodies. We go over the importance of building a network of trusted sources and how to tap into their knowledge.

Today I speak with Amy Leedham, trail and ultra runner runner. She is a Solomon sponsored athlete who represented the USA at the 2018 Trail Running World Championships. After dealing with some injuries, she got pregnant and had her daughter in July of 2020. She ran and did strength training during her pregnancy and thought everything was normal until she started to run 11 weeks postpartum. Even 9 months postpartum, she was still unable to run. She talks about her experience trying to get physical therapy care postpartum and her struggles dealing with insurance and conflicting opinions. 

Amy openly shares her struggles with her birth and the struggles she had getting the care she needed postpartum. So many of us can relate to her story.  You don’t want to miss the interview!
