Today I speak with Talayna Fortunado, CrossFit royalty, physical therapist, and mom of 3. She started CrossFit in 2009, right after graduating PT school, and made it to the podium at the CrossFit games in 2012, winning 3rd place. Talayna talks about her experience as an elite CrossFit athlete and how CrossFit has changed over the years.
Talayna has an extensive history in athletics ranging from ballet and collegiate gymnastics and track & field, to triathlons, and endurance paddle boarding. As a physical therapist, she has treated athletes from all of these sporting backgrounds, plus many more. Her approach is hands on, focusing on each client’s specific morphology and limitations to design a treatment plan to help them achieve their individual goals.
Talayna has an extra level of complexity added into her journey as a mom of twins! Our conversation hits on so many topics all postpartum athletes should hear!
We talk about:
-training while practicing physical therapy
-CrossFit and pregnancy
